A line's SAM is rarely one person's work. Here two people at one agency prepare it at the same time — a line each — read a load list and a BL into the lines, mark lines Done and Checked, and sign it once. Then the same for an SAA.
In this film
- The lines board: every line's state, the next step, and who is on which line now.
- One person on each line. Changes save as you type and reach everyone else's screen within seconds.
- A line someone else has open reads only. Ask them, or take it over — they are asked to hand it over first.
- A load list: each field matched to its column, the bills matched to their lines by BL number, and every value shown beside what the line says. A count the rows repeat is never guessed. The next sheet laid out the same way is matched as you matched it last time.
- A BL PDF becomes a new line. What the BL says is shown value by value; what no BL prints is listed as still to fill, never guessed. (The BL's reading is staged in this video.)
- Done, waiting for papers, Send back with a reason, and Checked — one press checks every clean line.
- A shut-out bill taken off, the totals counted again, the lines numbered 1–N, and signing, which freezes the SAM for everyone. Closed without sending.
- An SAA, the same way: only the lines the amendment carries are Done and Checked.

- Working with a shipping line filing (SAM / SDM)Open a shipping line’s SACHM23 manifest — hundreds of bills, over a megabyte — as a searchable table, and correct a line without rebuilding it.
- Amending a shipping line filing (SAA or SDA)What a minimal SAA or SDA carries — only the lines that changed, never the whole manifest again — what amdType means, and when to use each.
